Geography
For those who want to live in a clean city with fresh air, quiet neighbourhoods and animation in the centre of town and commercial areas, Brasov is the perfect choice.
Brasov is one of the biggest cities in Romania, situated in the middle of the country, at 170 km distance from the capital Bucharest. It’s a green city, surrounded by mountains, the Tampa natural reservation, being situated just in the middle of the town.
In Brasov the summer lasts 50 days, and the winter almost 90 days, to the delight of sports lovers, the snow covers the mountain areas more than 70 days per years, making Poiana Brasov a resort where almost all winter sports can be practiced.
The climate in the mountain areas is cooler and more humid, with relatively low rainfalls and lower temperatures. Summer standard temperature is between 22 and 27 degrees and winter temperature is between -10 °C and -2 °C.Social highlights
Brasov is a city that gives you many reasons to love it. It is an accessible city in comparison to other major cities in Romania, with lower costs for living, with a well developed transportation system, with schools and kindergartens in every neighborhood, with prestigious high schools and a university that prepared valuable people.
Whether you want to live in a blocks neighborhood where the surrounding gardens are generous, or live in a quiet homes neighborhood or in the old city, where the charm of the buildings enchants you, you will feel very good here. The settlements around the city, can also be a quiet alternative to urban life.
The city is compact, driving from one end to the other lasts no more than 30 minutes. The bike can be a good alternative for the transport in the city.

Culture and education built their way in Brasov’s life since early and continue to be represented and promoted by institutions, foundations, churches.
Brasov means people and events. Each institution wants to bring added value to the cultural life in Brasov, from theaters to libraries, from universities to foundations, from churches to cultural centres, music being also successfully represented.

Sport and Recreation
Sport is part of everyone’s life.
Brasov has an old tradition in sports, at the end of nineteenth century the first sport associations were established here.
Further, sporting and recreational activities provide opportunities for fun, relaxation, self-awareness, personal achievements and development as an individual or as a member of a group.
The rich landscape makes out of Brasov an ideal place for alternative sports such as trekking, climbing, skiing, skating, mountain biking, riding, golf and rafting.
The Postavaru mountain is the best ski destination in Romania, and Poiana Brasov resort is just at the bottom of the hill.
The Piatra Craiului Mountain, just 25 km away from Brasov, was declared natural reservation. One can admire here the rare mountain vegetation or can escalate its spectacular peaks.
Also other sports can be practiced in Brasov in different sport clubs: football, basketball, volleyball, rugby, cycling, judo, swimming, tennis etc.

Annual events in Brasov
Arts and culture is present in Brasov. The city has established a tradition of hosting a number of annual festivals, which spice up the cultural life of the city
Brasov Days – annual event correlated with the Junii feast
The Junii Feast – is a unique event, which takes place on the first Sunday after Easter. Junii, the inhabitants of the old Schei district of Brasov, dress up in their traditional costumes, mount their horses and form a procession that passes through the old city streets, up to the so-called “Intre chetri” (Between the Rocks), where their ritual starts. There is dancing, barbecuing and much more. The costumes the Junii wear are very picturesque.

Musica Barcensis Festival – sacred music concerts in every Saturday and Sunday of July and August, in the historical fortified churches surrounding Brasov.
Musica Coronensis – the festival takes place every two years in October and promotes the Brasov musical and cultural values. The festival was initiated in 1993 by the Evangelical Church Brasov.
The Jazz and Blues Festival – an international festival hosted by Sica Alexandrescu Theatre, in autumn
The International Chamber Music Festival – held in September, organized by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Brasov
The Contemporary Drama Festival – annual event organized by Sica Alexandrescu Theatre in November; with the participation of famous theatres from Romania, as well as from countries like France, Italy, USA, Belgium, Sweden, Brazil etc.
EtNovember – a cross between the words “ethnic” and “November”, the name of Brasov’s Etnovember festival reflects both the cultural traditions of the participating communities, and the month in which the festival is held.
The International Book and Music Fair -hosted by Transylvania University of Brasov, in March – an opportunity to find out about the latest books and also listen to quality music
The National Lied Festival – was initiated in 2003 by the internationally famous soprano, Mariana Nicolesco. Young artists compete here and well-known artists perform recitals.
The International Opera Festival – an annual event organised since 2003. The first edition marked the 50-year anniversary of the Brasov Opera.
